Disc protection. The two large zippered side pockets each contain dividers sized to hold a disc flat and prevent bending. Warping in storage is an underappreciated cause of flight inconsistency, particularly in premium plastics left compressed in a full bag.
Carry. Five pounds thirteen ounces empty, so a loaded Empire is a serious weight. High-quality shoulder strap padding and additional reinforcement across the back panel are not luxuries at this size - they determine whether your mechanics hold up on the closing holes.
